श्री सूत्रकृताङ्ग सूत्रम् में अत्यन्त क्रूरता पूर्ण-निर्दयतापूर्ण कर्म किये हैं वे प्राणी स्वकृत पाप का फल भोगने हेतु बद्ध होकर वहाँ निवास करते हैं । वे प्राणी कैसे हैं ? वे जोर-जोर से क्रन्दन करते हैं, चीखते चिल्लाते हैं । वे दीर्घकाल पर्यन्त चीखते चिल्लाते रहते हैं।
चिया महंतीउ समारभित्ता, छुब्भंति ते तं कलुणं रसंतं ।
आवट्टती तत्थ असाहुकम्मा, सप्पी जहा पडियं जोइमझे ॥१२॥ छाया - चिताः महतीः समारभ्य, क्षिपन्ति ते तं करुणं रसन्तम् ।
आवर्तते तत्रासाधुकर्मा, सर्पिर्यथा पतितं ज्योतिर्मध्ये ॥ अनुवाद - परमाधामी देव एक बहुत बड़ी चिता बनाकर उसमें क्षुब्ध और करुण क्रन्दन करते हुए नारकीय जीवों को फेंक देते हैं । आग में डाला हुआ घी जैसे पिघल जाता है, वे प्राणी उसमें गलकर पानी से हो जाते हैं।
टीका - महतीश्चिताः समारभ्य नरकपालाः 'तं' नारकं विरसं 'करुणं' दीनमारसन्तं तत्र क्षिपन्ति, स चासाधुकर्मा 'तत्र' तस्यां चितायां गतः सन् 'आवर्तते' विलीयते यथा-'सर्पिः' घृतं ज्योतिर्मध्ये पतितं द्रवीभवत्येवमसावपि विलीयते, न च तथापि भवानुभावात्प्राणैर्विमुच्यते ॥१२।। अयमपरोनरकयातनाप्रकार
टीकार्थ - नरकपाल महत्ती-विशाल चिता बनाकर करुण क्रन्दन करते हुए, दीनता के साथ रोते चीखते हुए नारकीय जीव को उसमें डाल देते हैं । वह असाधुकर्मा पापी उस चिता में जाकर विलीन हो जाता हैगल जाता है । जैसे अग्नि में डाला हुआ घृत पिघल जाता है, उसी तरह वह नारकीय प्राणी द्रव रूप में परिणत हो जाता है किन्तु नरक के प्रभाव के कारण वह प्राण विमुक्त नहीं होता-नहीं मरता।
यह नारकीय यातना का दूसरा प्रकार है ऐसा कहते हैं ।
सदा कसिणं पुण धम्मठाणं, गाढोवणीयं इहदुक्खधम्मं । हत्थेहिं पाएहि य बंधिऊणं, सत्तुव्व डंडेहिं समारभंति ॥१३॥ छाया - सदा कृत्स्नं पुनर्धर्मस्थानं, गाढोपनीत मतिदुःखधर्मम् ।
हस्तैश्च पादैश्च बध्धवा शत्रु मिव दण्डैः समारभन्ते ॥ अनुवाद - वहाँ सदा प्रज्जवलित रहने वाला एक उष्ण स्थान है जो प्रगाढ कर्मों के फलस्वरूप प्राणियों को प्राप्त होता है । वह स्वभाव से ही अत्यन्त दुःखप्रद है । उस स्थान में नारकपाल नारकीय जीवों के हाथ पैर बांधकर शत्रु की ज्यों डण्डों से उन्हें पीटते हैं ।
टीका - 'सदा' सर्वकालं. 'कृत्स्नं' सम्पूर्णं पुनरपरं 'धर्मस्थानं' उष्णस्थानं दृढ़निधत्तनिकाचित्तावस्थैः कर्मभिः 'उपनीतं' ढौकितमतीव दुःखरूपो धर्मः-स्वभावो यस्मिंस्तदतिदुःखधर्मं तदैवम्भूते यातनास्थाने तमत्राणं नारकंहस्तेषु पादेषु च बध्ध्वा तत्र प्रक्षिपन्ति, तथा तदवस्थमेव शत्रुमिव दण्डैः 'समारभन्ते' ताडयन्ति ॥१३॥ किञ्च
