Śrī G. K. Śrigondekara conjectures in the Glossary at the end of the Lekhapaddhati (p. 114), while explaining the term, that it may be a proper name, as coins are sometimes named after certain persons, eg . बाबाशाई, महम्मुदी, etc.'.
