Certain very meagre numismatic evidence is shown of the use of Magadhi on coins,27 Thus the Magadhi dialect flourished in the Far East i. e. in the country round Rayagiha and Gayā. In point of the use of corrupt language, the Easterners or Pracyas have been much denounced in Vedic literature, 28 Thus the tendency of the Pracyas for the use of their own dialect was well-known. Mahavira and Buddha preached their doctrines in a language if not this, very much akin to this as they wanted to popular99 and easily comprehensible to a large mass of people who flocked round their standards. make it 27.
