The supreme effulgence which existed at the beginning of creation, has pervaded everything thorougly in and out. That is Aditi the great mother who gave us birth. That Aditi holds in her womb this entire universe.
अन्वयभाष्यम् । एवं पूर्वस्मिन् मन्त्रे सर्वज्ञानशक्तिपूर्णस्य क्रियाशक्तिरूपो मातरिश्वा वर्णितः, अथ अस्मिन् मन्त्रे आधारशक्तिं आह | पुरस्तात् सर्गप्रारंभकाले तत् परम तेज: चैतन्यज्योतिरात्मकं ब्रह्म स्वयमेव इह यत्र सम्परीतं व्यापृतम्, सत् सद्वस्तु स्वतः सिद्धं भवति, सा आधारशक्तिरूपा नः सर्वषां प्राणभृतां जगतां च माता निर्मात्री आदिमाता प्रसवित्री प्रकृतिः, बृहती अखण्डा, अदिति: आकाशापरपर्याया गर्भे स्वीये अन्त: आत्मनि इदं विश्वं जगत् बिभर्ति, अव्यक्तबीजात्मनेति वेदान्तिनः, परमाणुपुञ्जतया इति तार्किकाः, वस्तुतस्तु भाषाभेदएवोभयेषामिति ॥
COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION Måtariśvā, the vital form of God who is all intelligence, has been described in the last mantra. In this mantra the power which supports the universe is described.
At the beginning of creation that supreme effulgence, which is energetic light in Brahma itself, and is pervading everything. It is Aditi that is the mother, the first creator of all of us, the living beings, and the worlds. She is the Prakrti, who gave birth to us all. She is indivisible. She is Aditi pervading everything like Akaśa. She holds in her womb the entire universe. The Vedantins hold that the universe in that early stage is like an unmanifested seed and the Tärkikas hold that it is all a collection of atoms. The difference of opinion between these two groups is only of words !
पञ्चमी ऋक् । आत्मनश्छन्दसा तस्य तपसः प्रसृतं तदिदमदितौ विश्वम् || प्रत्युपेयं सदीक्षयां वो बृहत्
तत् परमं ज्योतिर्विश्वस्य दर्शयत् ॥५॥ पदपाठः - आत्मनः । छन्दसा । तस्य । तप॑सः ।
प्रऽसृतम् । तत् । इदम् । अदितौ । विश्वम् ॥ प्रति। उपऽइयम् । सत्ऽईक्षया । वः । बृहत् । तत् । परमम् । ज्योतिः। विश्वस्य । दर्शयत् ।।
