छन्दोदर्शनम
षष्ठी ऋक् । यद् वा तेज उन्मथितं गवां घृतं मूलं वाचाम् ।
तादित्येन ज्योतिषा पुनः सङ्गच्छतामिदम् ॥ ६॥ पदपाठः – यत् । वा । तेजः । उत्ऽमथितम् । गाम् । घृतम् । मूलम् । वाचाम् ।
तत् । आदित्येन । ज्योतिषा । पुनरिति । सम् । गच्छताम् । इदम् ॥
Ghee is the very power of the cow extracted by churning (milk). It is the essence and the origin of speech. May this ghee be invested with the light of Aditya.
अन्वयभाष्यम्। यत् उन्मथितं दनः उन्मथनात् समुदितं तेज: तेज:स्वरूपं गवां घृतं प्रसिद्धं तेजोमयमिति | " तेजो वा एतत् पशूनां यद् घृतं यद् घृतेनाभिषिञ्चति तेज एवास्मिँस्तद्दधाति" (ऐ. ब्रा.) इति ब्राह्मणम् ॥ “गवि देवासो घृतमन्वविन्दन् ” (ऋ. मं. ४-५८-४) इति मन्त्रवर्णः, यच्च वाचां चतसृणां शरीरेऽन्त: आत्मनि आहत-प्रेरित-स्वरित-उच्चरितानां परापश्यन्तीमध्यमावैखरीरूपाणां मूलं हेतुभूतं इति च प्रसिद्धम् | अत एव "तेजोमयी वाक् ” (छां.उ. ६-५-४) " तेजो वै घृतम्” इति च अनुश्रूयते ब्राह्मणानुवचनम् |! तदिदं अस्मिन् पञ्चगव्ये मेलनार्थं गृहीतं घृतं आदित्येन दिव्येन ज्योतिषा पुनः अस्मिन् दिव्यसत्त्वसम्पादनार्थं सङ्गच्छताम् इति । ऋषिरनया ऋचा गृहीतं घृतं पुनरभिमन्त्रयते पञ्चगव्यसत्त्वसिध्यर्थम् ॥
COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION The ghee produced by churning the curds is known as Tejomaya. “The ghee of the cattle is indeed Tejas,” says the Brāhmaṇa. “The Devas got the ghee from out of the cows," says the Rk (Rg. IV-58-4). Vak has four forms, the sound in the soul, the inspired, the resounded, and the expressed. That ghee is the original source of Vak is well-known. So, “Vak is full of Tejas" (Chha. Up. VI-5-4). Tejas is ghee, says the Brahmana.
May this ghee which is collected for being mixed with the Pancha Gavya, be invested with Tejas of Aditya. The Rshi consecrates with this mantra the ghee of Pañcha Gavya.
सप्तमी ऋक् । सरस्वत्यो या अमृता आपो दिव्याः पावान्यः | ताभिरद्भिरिमे गव्याः साकं पुनन्तु मां रसाः ॥ ७ ॥
