________________ PANCALINGĪPRAKARANAM : 97 To jattha-jattha sāvaijakajja mabbhujjamam samuvvahai/ So tattha tattha tammai, virai mahanto apāvanto || 49 || Tasmāt yatra-yatra sävadyakārye, abhyudyamam samudvahati/ Sa tatra-tatra tāmyati, virati mahanto "prāpnuvan || 49 || So, wherever the soul indulges, in activities that are violent Everywhere he begets grief and, is eluded by total restraint || 49 || 49. Laying emphasis on the ill effects of violent activities the author says that wherever the unrestrained person indulges in violent and sinful activities, he gets nothing but grief and complete detachment keeps eluding him. (It is, therefore, incumbent upon the rightly inclined souls to restrain themselves and shun violence and vehemence.)
