SPIRITUAL LIGHT. The unsteady mind, like a hurricane all at once hurls down the great sages who practise : austerities renouncing all mundane affairs for the attainment of absolute freedom. (7) મન ગિઓને પણ દબાવે છે–
“ગૃહસ્થસંસાર છેડી મુક્તિરૂપ લક્ષ્મીને માટે તપશ્ચર્યા કરતા મહાનુભાવોને પણ ચપલસ્વભાવવાળું મન એકદમ વાયુની માફક કયાંઈને ક્યાંઈ ઉડાવી મૂકે છે.”—૭ મારોથો યોગચા રાજારજવરમ્ – मनोविशोधेन विनैव योगधरांधरारोहणमीहते यः। . प्रहस्यते पङ्गुरिव क्रमाभ्यां देशाटनं कर्तुमनाः स मूढः ॥ ८॥
A foolish man who without the purification of his mind, wishes to ascend the hill of Yoga is as ridiculous as a lame man who desires to travel on foot. (8) મરોધ પેગનું અસાધારણ કારણ છે–
“મન:શુદ્ધિ વિના ગરૂપ પર્વત ઉપર આરહણ કરવા જે ઈચ્છે છે, તે મૂઢ પગથી દેશાટન કરવાને ઇચ્છતા પાંગળા માણસની જેમ ઉપહાસપાત્ર છે. ”-૮ मनोरोधारोधौ मोक्ष-संसारहेतूरुद्धानि कर्माणि मनोनिरोधे मनःप्रचार प्रसरन्ति तानि । .... असंयमः संयम एतदीयो भवस्य मोक्षस्य समस्ति मूलम् ॥ ९॥.
