________________ Shri Mahavir Jain Aradhana Kendra www.kobatirth.org Mudranighantu Now I shall describe to you the Mudras which are held very secret in all the Tantras. Exhibition of Mudras pleases the Mantra Devată. Acharya Shri Kailassagarsuri Gyanmandir 1 In Arcana, Japa, Dhyana, Sadhana for desired results, and in Bathing, Invocation, blowing the Conch-shell, Consecration of a Deity, Protection, Offerings and the grains meant for the Deity, appropriate Mudras with their respective forms must be exhibited. 2-3 Ordinarily there are nine Mudras for Avahana (Invocation), and in all the Mantras one should use six-organed Mudras. 0 4. The wise men have described Nineteen Mudras for Visņu, viz., Sankha, Cakra, Gada, Padma, Veņu, Śrīvatsa, Kaustuba, Vanamala, Jñana, Bilva, Garuda, Para, Narasimhi, Vārāhī, Hayagraivi, Dhanu, Vana, Parasu and Jaganmohini, which please and satisfy Visņu. 5-7 Popular by the name of Kamamudras, Śiva has Ten Mudras, viz., Linga, Yoni, Trisula, Akşamālā, Vara, Abhaya, Mrga, Khaṭvānga, Kapala and Damarü, which all satisfy Śīva. 8-9 There is only one, Padmamudra for Surya; and Ganesa has Seven. Danta, Pasa, Ankusa, Vidyä, Parasu, Ladḍūka, and Bija are the Mudras for Gaṇeśa. 10 Pasa, Ankusa, Vara, Abhaya, Khadga, Carma, Dhanu, Sara, Muşali and Mudrika are the Ten Mudras loved by Durgā. 11 Mudgara, Pasa, Vajra, Jihvā and Brahmi are the Five Mudras specified for Brahmastra Japa and Pūjā. 12 For Private and Personal Use Only
