________________ Shri Mahavir Jain Aradhana Kendra www.kobatirth.org Acharya Shri Kailassagarsuri Gyanmandir TIE SANSKRIT MANUSCRIPTS. There is a Bhūrja manuscript of the Rgvēda which is more than five hundred years old and was discovered by Dr. Bühler. In the manuscript the Udātta alone is marked, and that by a perpendicular stroke ; and the same is the case with one of the two schools of the Maitrayani samhita. (Weber's Hist. of Ind. Lit., p. 314). There are two manuscripts in the Library in which this notation is adopted. This notation is more scientific than the cxisting one. Generally the same accentuation is adopted both in the Rgvīda and the Yajur Vēda. The whole of the ten Mandalas of the Rgvēda, and the Samhitā and the major portions of the Brāhmaşas of the Yajur Vēdas are accented; and many of the remaining Brāhmaṇas and generally the Upanişads are not accented. Beginning of Astaka III: हरिः ओं ॥ For an explanation of this mnemonical formula see p. 11. Colophon:-तृतीयाष्टकः समाप्तः ॥ Beginning of Astaka I: End: (Last two leaves in this Aptaka are wanting.) 22 ॥ For Private and Personal Use Only
