________________ Shri Mahavir Jain Aradhana Kendra www.kobatirth.org Acharya Shri Kailassagarsuri Gyanmandir ANANTA-GUMPHĀ INSCRIPTION TEXT [- ]'???samaņ[@]namo lepam [-] 1. The letters representing the opening words of the inscription are irrevocably lost. 2. The stone is peeled off and shows just the sockets of three letters which are read by Banerji as Dohada. I doubt very much the correctness of such a reading. Any one attempting to guess the letters from the outlines of the sockets is apt to glide into a fatal error Anyhow, the outline of the first socket resembles rather that of sa than that of do. Kalimga or Kalimga is the word which may be supposed to have preceded samanānam in an inscription of this kind. 3. samananam in Dutta's estampage. (111) For Private And Personal Use Only
