At that time Lord Mahavira arrived there on a religious visit. The assembly went out to hear him. King Kîniya also went to hear him. Pauma (he is to be described here exactly as Mahabala ) also went out to hear him. (Then the taking of the permission of parents is to be described and so forth, down to ) got himself initiated and became a houseless monk (and so forth, down to) a self-restrained celibate.
