Then that king Seniya, soon after throwing in his mouth the Tālapudaga poison and it being digested in a short time, fell down breathless, inactive and devoid of life. 38. Then that prince Kîniya went to the prison house, and having done so he found king Seriya there breathless, inactive, devoid of life and fallen down on the ground and having done so he, being greatly overpowered with grief for his father, foll down on the surface of the ground with all his limbs producing a 'dhus, dhus' sound like an excellent Champaka tree cut off by an axe. Then that prince Kîniya, getting himself composed after a moment, crying, sobbing, full of grief and weeping spoke thus: “Oh, I-unblessed, unmeritorious and devoid of good deeds as I am—did a wicked thing by putting into prison king Seņiya, the dear lord, who was full of great love and affection for me. King Seniya met with death only due to me," and having said so he, being surrounded by many kings, chieftains (and so forth, down to ) tributary kings, and crying, weeping and sobbing, performed the funeral ceremony of king For Private and Personal Use Only
