હિંદઓનું સમાજરચનાશાસ્ત્ર શાસ્ત્રપરના ગ્રંથમાં કહે છે. પોતાની આંગ્લભૂમિના સમાજ વિશે ડૉ. ફિશર કહે છે કે, “ગ્રેટબ્રીટનની લેક સંખ્યાની ૧૯૧૧ થી ૧૯૨૧ સુધીના કાલમાં કયારેક પણ પિંડાત્મક અધોગતિ શરૂ થઈ છે. છતાં ૧૯૨૧ના વસતિપત્રકમાં લેક સંખ્યામાં વધારે જ થતો દેખાય છે અને ૧૯૩૧ના વસતિપત્રકમાં પ્રજોત્પાદનને અયોગ્ય એવી વ્યક્તિઓનું પ્રમાણ એકંદર સંખ્યા સાથે સરખાવતાં વધ્યું હોવાથી થોડી આભાસિક વૃદ્ધિ થએલી દેખાશે.”

પ્રગતિવાદી તત્ત્વજ્ઞ હેગેલની પ્રગતિની કલ્પના સૃષ્ટિ અગર ઇતિહાસની બાબતમાં નિરપેક્ષ છે. પ્રગતિ એટલે આધ્યાત્મિક સ્વતંત્રતા
