A verse says జ్ఞాననా జాయతే శూద్రః, కర్తణాజాయతే ద్విజా, వేదాధ్యాయీచవి ప్రస్స్యాత్ , బ్రహ్మం నీచక్రాలే వ్వనము Sera, by birth he is a Budra: rites constitute him a Dwija: reading the seriptures makes him a Viprs; and knowledge of deity makes him a Brahmin.
