Names of other copyists and owners are Haladhara Das Gupta (11), Nșsimhaprasāda (12), Pāņde Krşņadeva (17), Bālamukunda Mālaviya (29), Bhatta Nīlakantha (42), Vardhamāna (61), Panditarāya (57), Tulasīrāma Sukula (65), who copied the MS. for the use of Missādāsa, Kāmeśvara, son of Lakşminātha (73) who copied the MS. and gave it away, Rāmaratna Miśra (74), Vidyādhara Dviveda (75) who copied the MS. for his own use as well as for the use of others and Vaijnātha, son of Rāma (81). The MS. of the commentary of the Satarañjakutühala (85), a work on the game of chess, is stated to have been copied for the benefit of the students of a school.
IMPORTANT MANUSCRIPTS A reference may be made to the MSS. of a number of interesting and important works dealt with in the volume. No other MSS. of the works are known to exist elsewhere.

A GENERAL SURVEY OF THE NATURE OF CONTENTS OF THE MSS.
It will be seen that the volume though small contains MSS. of works of various subjects of more or less of a technical nature. It is scarcely possible for me to assess the merits of the works and ascertain their position in the literature of the respective subjects.
That is the business for experts. And one such expert, Mr. O. C. Gangoly, has in his Rāgas and Rāginīs (Calcutta, 1948) drawn attention (pp. 43, 64, 36, 49) to the special value of a number of unpublished works on Samgītaśāstra, MSS. of which are possessed by the Society (54, 60, 61, 62). As regards other subjects the Society can claim to possess very few manuscripts of important
