PREFACE
The preparation of this Catalogue of the Vedic Manuscripts in tabular form was principally based upon the scheme initiated by the Education Department of the Government of India. Taking various factors into consideration it was finally planned to bring out this catalogue in one volume with four parts. Of these, the second part is now presented before the scholars. The third part is in the press and it is expected to be released shortly. The first one is in the stage of final revision while the fourth will serve as an appendix to the parts mentioned above.
The entire volume was primarily compiled by the late Pandit N. C. Vedantatirtha, M. A. But he did not live to see it in its final shape. However, the major portion of this part was printed off during his tenure of office as the curator of manuscripts. The present incumbent felt the necessity of partially revising the remaining portion as a result of which the publication was delayed to a certain extent.
