Arranged by subject. The index has been carefully revised and enlarged (p. 622-36). A brief outline of the Life of Colin Mackenzie and of the steps taken to catalogue and utilize his collection (p.vii-xviii). The collection is now mostly in the Oriental & India Office Collections of the British Library, London. Originally the catalogue was published under the same title by the Asiatic Society, Calcutta in 1828 in two Volumes. (cliv, 357; 148, cclxix, 14 p.) Detailed summary of 220 important historical mss. in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi and Persian which were collected by Mackenzie in carly 19th century. Earlier these mss. were catalogued by H.W. Wilson, and William Taylor in 1828 and 1862 respectively. The collection (catalogued by Mahalingam) is now housed in University of Madras.
