580 No. 25 Size.-81 in. by 4 in. Extent.-16 leaves%3; 10 lines to a page%3 29letters to a line. Description.-Country paper ; Devanagari characters; handwriting
legible; two lines in red ink on either border; benedictory phrase, title of the work, names of authorities quoted, topics and colophon are tinged with red pigment; paper old and musty.
The work deals with the initiatory rite for starting vedic studies. The Ms. which begins with fol. 296 and ends abruptly on fol. 311, seems to form part of some larger work. Our work starts on fol. 296%; on fol. 2969, we see the end of pākayajñasamstha. On the three margins (except on the top ) we read:
इति श्रीयजराम्नायचरणमिश्रश्रीकेशवसुनुश्रौतस्मार्तप्रचंडरश्मिमिश्रश्रीरत्नेश्वरतनुजनि याज्ञिकभूवृंदारकवंदनीय-मिश्रश्रीवैद्यनाथप्रकाशिते श्रीसंस्थावैद्यनाथचतुर्थमाननं ॥ १.
It is possible that our work is upäkarmapaddhati of
Vaidyanatha. Age.- Appears to be old. Author.- Anonymous. Begins.- fol. 2960.
श्रीगणेशाय नमः॥ अथातोध्यायोपाकर्म ॥
अथ पंचमहायज्ञकथनानंतरं तत्र ब्रह्मयज्ञे अध्ययनविधिः सत्वात्तत्प्रसंगेन यतो विधिनाधीतो वेदः समाहित
साधत् ॥ etc. Ends.- fol.311b.
इंद्रस्तद्वेदयेन यथा न विद्विषामह इति ॥ सहाचार्या जपत्युन्मत्रं ॥ त्रिरात्रं नाधीयीरन् । साचार्या एव लोमनखानामनिवंतनं ॥ त्रिरात्रमेव तेषां एके प्रागुत्सर्गात् ॥ लोभनखनि कृतनं प्रागुत्सर्गाते इत्येके ॥७॥ अथ
