________________ Preface In continuation of our current series of Catalogues of Sanskrit and Prakrit manuscripts, the present volume (No. 18) covers the Jaipur collection prepared on the pattern laid down by the Ministry of Education. The 4289 entries recorded herein cover about 4773 Sanskrit and Prakrit manuscripts (Acc. no. 7119-11892) on different subjects, donated by Sarwashri Jin Dharnendra Suri (86), Badrinarayan Photographer (1633), Purohit Harinarayan (110), Sita Sahai Parik (3). Lakshman Ram Haldia (40) & Sitaram Haldia (42). The Catalogue records description of manuscripts copied during the long span stretching from the 16th to 20th centuries. We have few good works on philosophy, poetry and one or two stray commen. taries in Rajasthani on popular Jain works. The "Vidyatattva Bharatiya Upadesh" (2016), an anonymous commentary on the Naishadhiyacharit (3361), Shanti Suri's commentaries on the Meghabhudyaya (3414), the Vrindavana Kavya (3417) and the Shiva Bhadra Kavya (3423) deserve separate mention as useful texts. Similarly, the 'Sadavasyaka Balavabodh' (1598) of Tarun Prabh and the 'Bhasa Vacanika' of Sasti Shatak provided passage to the study of the Prakrit texts through simplified dialects.
