Certain Brahmi inscriptions brought to light in 1912 in the Pandya country (Epi. Rep. S. Circle for 1912) and attention to them drawn in the Reports for 1915 and 1918. A paper read on them by H. Krishna SASTRI at the first 'All India Oriental Conference' in 1919. Mr. K. V. Subrahmanya AIYAR again read a paper on the same subject at the third session of the conference in 1924. Both of them assumed that there were some Tamil words occuring in them. The records appear to be Prakritic. There is no warrant for assigning the third century B. c. for any Tamil inscription.
