The Buddha once prophesied that the wife of Subhadra, a Jain citizen of Rajagriha would give birth to a son who would make his family. renowned, the Jain monks on the other hand warned Subhadra and predicted that the future child would bring disaster, there upon the husband administered some drugs to his wife to cause abortion, she died and was being cremated when the child came out of the womb and was taken charge of by Bimbisära, king of Rajagriha at the suggestion of the Buddha,

Relief Nos. 79-80. Story of two friends, Śrigupta, a lay disciple of the Buddha, and Grahadatta, a disciple of the Naked Asceties of the Jain order lived at Srävasti. A ditch was dug out and a seat was placed at its edge, when the Jain ascetics sat over it they fell down in the ditch but the Buddha by dint of his supernatural power saved himself.
