INTRODUCTION
Darśanamohaniya
Either upasama or kṣaya

Of all the types of kaşayas either upasama or kşaya being rendered (the upasama or kṣaya of the anantänubandhin type having already been rendered)
Upasama of all the types. Kṣaya of all the types.
There are numerous other details relating to this gradation of gunasthānas but we can ignore them.'.
As a matter of fact, we can ignore (rather we should ignore) the concept of upasama. Therefore the essential facts about darsana-mohaniya are as follows:
(a) In the First gunasthana there is udaya of it;
(b) In the Fourth to Seventh guṇasthanas there is either kṣayopasama or kṣaya of it.
(c) In the Eighth to Twenth guṇasthānas there is kṣaya of it and so also in the Twelth to Furteenth guṇasthānas.
Similarly, the essential facts about kaşayas are as follows:
(a) In the First gunasthana there is udaya of all the types of them;
(b) In the Fourth guṇasthana there is either kṣayo pašama or kṣaya of the anantanubandhin type and udaya of the rest;
(c) In the Fifth gunasthana there is either kṣayo pasama or kṣaya of the anantänubandhin type, kṣayopasama of the apratyākhyānāvaraṇa type and udaya of the rest;
(a) In the Sixth and Seventh gunasthānas there is either ksayo paśama or kşaya of the anantänubandhin type, udaya of the sañjvalana type and kşayopasama of the rest;

One thing, however, may be noted, Strictly speaking, the First gunasthana is characterized by the udaya of mithyatvamohantya (subdivision of darsana-mohaniya), the Fourth to Seventh by the udaya, upasama or kṣaya of samyaktvamohaniya (another subdivision of darsana-mohantya), the Eleventh by the upasama of samyaktvamohaniya, and the Twelfth to Fourteenth by the kṣaya of samyakivamohantya, But for our purpose it would not be much misleading to speak in the way we have done, Also note that we have said nothing about the Second and Third gunasthanas because an account of them will involve certain technical concepts of a rather unimportant kind.
