In the Burmese the survey of the different ruling dynasties is altogether omitted. In the Chinese version the Bodhisattva, being himself doubtful as to which family to select, consults one of the Devas, Kin-t'hwán by name, who for many years had, "over and over again, gone down to Jambudvipa" and knew all about it. "Devaputra," said he," you have often gone down to Jambudripa ; doubtless, therefore, you know the cities, towns, and villages, and the various lineages of their kings; and in what family Bodhisattva, for his one birth more, ought to be born."
