CHAPTER VII एवमादु एदु विविहे सव्वे भावे य णिच्छदे णाणी।
जाणगभावो णियदो णीरालबो दु सव्वत्थ ॥२१४॥ Evamądu edu vivihe savve bhāveya nichchade nānı Janagabhāvo niyado nitālambodu savvatta (214)
एवमादिकास्तु विविधान् सर्वान् भावान् चनेच्छति ज्ञानी ।
ज्ञायकभावो नियतो निरालम्बस्तु सर्वत्र ॥२१४॥ 214 The Knower has no hankering after all these various psychic states (such as desire and appetite for external objects) Since he is really of the nature of the Knower he remains everywhere independent (of alien influences)
उप्पण्णोदयभोगे विओगबुद्धीय तस्स सो णिच्च ।
कखामणागदस्स य उदयस्स ण कुव्वदे णाणी ॥२१५॥ Uppannodayabhoge vivogabuddhiye tassa so nichcham Kankhāmanāgadassaya udayassa na kuuvade nānı (215)
उत्पन्नोदयभोगो वियोगबुद्धया तस्य स नित्यम् ।
काक्षामनागतस्य च उदयस्य न करोति ज्ञानी ॥२१५॥ 215 Thus the Knower having always an attitude of renun ciation towards the enjoyable environmental objects arising from the operation of karmas, he exhibits neither a desire for the present changes nor a longing for the future ones
जो वेददि वेदिज्जदि समए समए विणस्सदै उहय ।
त जाणगो दु णाणी उभयमवि ण कखइ कयावि ॥२१६॥ Jo vedadı vediyadı samaye samaye vinassade ubayam Tam jānago du nāni ubhayamavi na kankhayi kayāvi (216)
यो वेदयते वेद्यते समये समये विनश्यत्युभय ।
तद् ज्ञायकस्तु ज्ञानी, उभयमपि न काक्षति कदापि ॥२१६॥ 216 Psychic activities corresponding to what feels and what is felt, both get destroyed every moment One who knows this is the Knower Never does he long for these
COMMENTARY
The series of conscious states consist of rapidly moving sensation, perception and idea These elements form parts of the cognitive aspect of consciousness Besides this cognitive aspect
