________________ [ 241 ] Now we have to study (one) by whom Pratisandhi takes place. Methods of pratisandhi In this connection we have to study Janaka, Utpīdaka, Upastambhaka or Upaghātaka Karma. This is to help Janaka karma to support it so that it may bear fruit. Upastambhaka, Utpadaka and Upaghātaka Karma belong to the present life, These are produced in the Yavana ithāna. Utpīdaka karma weakens the Vipāka of Janaka Karma by resisting it often. Thus Kućala Utpīdaka resists Akušala Utpīdaka and vice versa. So is upaghātaka karma? At the time of pratisandhi and pravar. ttana, the Janaka Karma is vipaka and the kušalāk šálacetanā which produces Karmajarupa ( कर्मजरूप ). The chief place of producing vipāka during the time of pravarttana is the Alambana ( BITCFTAT ), Bhavanga ( 1795), five vijñāna, Sampraticcha and Samuttīrpa. The rule is that the Janaka Karma is able to bear its fruit during pravarttana according as it is supported or opposed by other Karmans. The pratisandhi alambana is the sixth vipaka of atîta Karmas. The chief .place of producing vipāka during the time of pravarttana, the aśvāsana bhavanga ( 37799787 Ha ), five vijñāna sampratīcha ( #Fra331) and Samtīrpa. The rule is that the Javana Karma is able to bear its fruit during pravarttana according as it is supported or opposed by other Karmas. 1. How to destroy Janaka Karma ? The example of Sthavira Āngulimāla is there. At the time of pratisandhi and prayerttana, the Janaka Karma is vipakaskandha and the Kušala akušala which produces Karmajarūpa. The chief place of producing vipaka during the time of pravarttana is the alambana bhavanga-.e. vijnanas, sampratIccha and samirna. The rule is thar the Janaka Karma is able to bear its fruits during pravarttana according as it is supported or opposed by other Karm. The pratisandhi vijñina is always the vipaka of atita Karma. There are in all nineteen kinds of this vijñana. Out of these, according to circumstances only one vijñāna does the function of pratisandhi (Kita). 2.
