________________ The nagas have the body of a snake and the face of a human being. They are seen on the ceilings of the Parsvanatha temple at Kumbharia and the ceiling of the east portico of the rangamanḍapa of the Vimalavasahi. In the Adiśvara temple at Ranakpur, there are some magnificent representations of nagas and näginis. Among other animals, the geese in rows appear on the pillars and ceilings, lions are shown on the ceilings and the samvaraṇā, the elephants are carved in pitha, sikhara, roofs, ceilings and in the hastiśālā.
