चौथा अध्याय ।
त्रैलोक्ययात्रां चरितुं प्रवीणा, धर्मार्थकामाः प्रभवन्ति यस्याः।
प्रसादतो वर्तत एव लोके, सरस्वती सा वसतान्मनोऽब्जे ॥१॥ जिसके प्रसादसे धर्म, अर्थ और काम ये तीन पुरुषार्थ सुखसे तीन लोक सम्बन्धी यात्रा करनेको समर्थ होते हैं और जो इस लोकमें निवास करती है वह सरस्वती देवी मेरे हृदय-कमलमें निवास करे ॥१॥
शान्तिप्रदं सम्प्रति शान्तिनाथं, देवाधिदेवं वरतत्त्वभाषम् ।
नत्वा प्रवक्ष्ये गृहधर्ममत्र, यतो भवेत्स्वर्गमुखं सुभोगम् ॥२॥ जीवादि सात उत्तम तत्वोंके उपदेश करनेवाले और शान्ति प्रदान करनेवाले देवाधिदेव शान्तिनाथ परमात्माको नमस्कार कर मैं अब गृहस्थ-धर्मको कहूँगा जिससे स्वर्गीय सुख और अच्छे अच्छे भोग प्राप्त होते हैं ॥२॥ . . . कृत्वैवं सुजलाशये स मुदितश्चोत्थाय तस्माच्छनै
रीर्यायाः पथशोधनं शुचितरं कुर्वन्त्रजेत्स्वं गृहम् । - अस्त्रातान् सकलान् जनानहि तदा मार्गे स्पृशेन्नोत्तमान, . .
स्नातान् शूद्रजनान्प्रमादबहुलान् शुद्धानपि नो स्पृशेत् ॥३॥ तीसरे अध्यायमें बताई हुई क्रियाओंको जलाशयके ऊपर अच्छी तरह सम्पादन कर बड़े ही हर्षके साथ वहांसे उठकर चार हाथ आगेकी जमीनका निरीक्षण करता हुआ अपने घरको रवाना होवे । रास्ते स्नान न किए हुए उत्तम पुरुषोंको, स्नान किये हुए शूद्रोंको और जो शुद्ध हैं परन्तु फिर भी प्रमाद युक्त हैं इनको भी न छूवे । उन्हीं न छूने योग्य पुरुषोंको नीचेके श्लोकोंसे प्रकट करते हैं ॥३॥
मद्यविक्रयिणं शूद्रं कुलालं मद्यपायिनम् । ... नापितं च शिलास्फोट कुविन्दकमतः परम् ॥ ४॥ काच्छिकं मालिकं चैव हिंसकं मुद्गलादिकम् । .:. उच्छिष्टपर्णचर्मास्थिच्युतशृंगनखानपि ॥ ५ ॥
