________________ Shri Mahavir Jain Aradhana Kendra www.kobatirth.org Acharya Shri Kailassagarsuri Gyanmandir alan:-9973: * An object ( we take a pitcher for instance ) is eternal from the stand-point of the substance, of which it is made, and it is also non-eternal from the stand-point of its modifications. Thus, eternity and non-eternity, and such other contradictory attributes simultaneously exist in one and the same object from the different view-points. So it is important to look at or study an object from different stand-points. Only then attributes existing in one and the same object, though contradictory, can be reconciled; and only then an object can be rightly realized. Such a wide observation of a thing can be made through the help of many-sided or relative view. This is the Anekanta view, and the statement made in accordance with the view, is Anekantavada or Syadvada. 20 For Private and Personal Use Only
