कसाय पाहुड सुत्त
पुवम्मि पंचमम्मि दु दसमे वत्थुम्मि पाहुडे तदिए । पेज्ज ति पाहुडम्मि दु हवदि कसायाण पाहुडं णाम ॥१॥
राग द्वेष जग-मूल हैं, उनका मूल कषाय ।
वीतराग जिनदेवको, वन्दूं शीस नवाय ॥ जिन राग और द्वेपके वशीभूत होकर ये सर्व जीव दुखी हो रहे है, अपने आप का स्वरूप भूल रहे है और एक दूसरेको सुख-दुःखका दाता मान रहे है, उन्ही राग और द्वेपके बोध कराने और उनसे मुक्ति पानेका मार्ग बतलानेके लिए भव्यजीवोके हितार्थ श्री गुणधराचार्यने इस पेज्जदोसपाहुड अथवा कसायपाहुडका निर्माण किया है । पेज नाम प्रिय या रागका है, और दोस नाम अप्रिय या द्वेषका है । ये राग और द्वेप ही संसारके मूल कारण है। राग
और द्वेप की उत्पत्ति कपायोसे होती है, अतएव कषायोकी विभिन्न अवस्थाओका बोध कराकर उनसे मुक्ति पानेका मार्ग बतलानेके लिए इस ग्रन्थका अवतार हुआ है। ___ श्रीगुणधराचार्य इस ग्रन्थके सम्बन्ध आदि बतलानेके लिए गाथासूत्र कहते है--
पाँचवें पूर्वकी दसवी वस्तुमें पेज्जपाहुड नामक तीसरा अधिकार है, उससे यह 'कसायपाहुड' उत्पन्न हुआ है ॥१॥
