7. Gyangdrag Monastery A few people believe that the Ashtapad Mountain is the hillock on which Gyangdrag monastery is located. This may be due to the write up on a board which tells that visitors of Jain and Bon Po religion come to this place for meditation. When we visited this area we found many ruins here. Sufficient evidence is not available except the Jain words mentioned on the board, however the board is recent and written in English language, so it cannot be taken as authentic. Shri Abhaykumar Jain and I visited area beyond Gyangdrag Monastery in hope to find out the location of Ashtapad. We found a few ruins of houses and monasteries.
