Minister Maideva equipped the army and having reported that the enemy possessed five hundred thousand Sahana and nine hundred thousand Păila, asked the king who should lead the army against Jayasimhadeva. Madhava, the officer in charge of the city-gates, was summoned (whom the king commanded} : "Go and offer a gift of 120 horses and 16 elephants. Also give him whatever he requires.
