ધારણ કરવી ) એ બહુ જ વધુ કઠિન અને બહુ જ શક્તિવાળું કામ છે. ખરેખર, હિંસા કરતાં અહિંસાનું મળ ચઢિયાતું છે.
22. It is more heroic (though rather difficult) to show forbearance and at the same time to maintain equanimity of mind towards the opponent than to exhibit physical prowess to him. The power of non-violence is really superior to that of riolence.
हिंसाप्रसृतिः प्रतिहिंसकत्वं वैरेण वैरस्य परम्परा च । અર્જિત- ગત્તિ: લટ્ટુ વૈરિચિત્તે પ્રસÕજ્ઞાનમયેચ સુદ્ધા | ૨૨ |
૨૩. હિંસામાંથી પ્રતિહિંસા જન્મે છે અને વેરથી વર વધે છે, ભવાન્તરમાં પણ એની પરપરા વહે છે. અહિં’સા એ શુદ્ધ આત્મશક્તિ છે, જે વૈરીને પણ શાન્ત કરે છે, નમાવે છે, પ્રસન્ન કરે છે.
23. Violence begets counter-violence; and revenge produces a series of mutually retaliatory revengeful acts. The force of non-violence makes even the heart of an enemy pacified and
humble.
इदं परं तेज इयं परा श्रीरिदं परं भाग्यमिदं महत्त्वम् । अशेषविश्वेश्वरनम्रमौलि - नमस्कृतं सत्यमहाव्रतं यत् ॥ २४ ॥
૨૪. સકલ વિશ્વના અધીશ્વરાનાં નમ્ર મસ્તકાથી વન્દ્રિત સત્ય મહાવ્રત એ પરમ જ્યાત છે, એ મહતી વિભૂતિ છે, એ શ્રેષ્ઠ સૌભાગ્ય છે અને એ ઉત્કૃષ્ટ મહત્ત્વ છે.
