प्रथम-प्रकरणम्
૪૭ જેમને ચન્દરમિ-ધવલ યશવાદ આ ભૂ–પીઠ પર ખૂબ ગવાતો હતો એવા મહાબાહુ નરપતિએ પણ કાળને કરાલ પ્રહાર પડતાં એકદમ મેટું ફાડતા જમીન પર લાંબ થયા.
17. Even the paramouat kings whose glory, bright like the ray of the moon, was loudly trumpeted on this earth, were struck by the god of death, and lay prostrate on the ground with their distorted faces.
महालयोऽयं धनकोश एष इमाः सुमुख्यः परिवार एषः । ध्यायन्निति स्यान्मनु नः प्रफुल्लो दृशोस्तु सम्मीलितयोर्न किञ्चित् ॥४८॥
૪૮, આ મહાલય છે, આ ધનભંડાર છે, આ રમણીઓ છે, આ પરિવાર છે એમ વિચારો (એમ પોતાની સમ્પત્તિનું ચિન્તન કરતે) માણસ પિતાના મનમાં ખુશ થાય છે, પણ આંખ મિંચાઈ કે પછી કંઈ છે?
48. Man b:cones plated with the thought of being in the possession of his palace, treagure, beauties and retinue; but once the eyes are closed, they are no more. (They do not exist 80 far as the decea ed is concerne )
अत्यन्त-भीम मरणे समेते प्रभूतकष्टार्जितमप्यनल्पम् । अर्थ तथा देह-गृहादि मुक्त्वा धर्मो हि भावी गमन सहायः ॥४९॥
૪૯. મોતના ભયંકર વખતે જ્યારે માણસ બહુકોપાર્જિત દ્રવ્ય અને ઘર વગેરે તથા શરીરને મુકી વિદાય થાય છે ત્યારે કેવલ ધર્મ જ (જે આરાઈ હોય તો) તેને સહાયભૂત થાય છે,
