________________ Dravyasamgraha अट्टचदुणाणदंसण सामण्णं जीवलक्खणं भणिदं । ववहारा सुद्धणया सुद्धं पुण दंसणं णाणं ॥ (6) गाथा भावार्थ - व्यवहारनय से आठ प्रकार के ज्ञान और चार प्रकार के दर्शन का जो धारक है, यह जीव का सामान्य लक्षण है। और शुद्ध निश्चयनय से जो शुद्ध ज्ञान व दर्शन है वह जीव का लक्षण कहा गया है। 6. From the empirical point of view (vyavahāra naya), eight kinds of knowledge and four kinds of perception are generally said to be the possessions of the soul. And from the pure transcendental point of view (śuddha niscaya naya), soul's distinctive characteristic is pure knowledge and perception. EXPLANATORY NOTES Ācārya Umasvami's Tattvārthasūtra (5-38) गुणपर्ययवत् द्रव्यम् ॥ That which has qualities and modes is a substance. Ācārya Pujyapada's Sarvārthasiddhi ...What are qualities and what are modes? Those characteristics which are always associated with a substance are qualities. Those which are not always associated with a substance are modes. A substance possesses both. “That which makes distinction between one substance and another is called a quality, and modification of a substance is called a mode. A 16
