प्रमाणांगुल का प्रयोजन प्रमाणांगुल-उत्सेधागुल से हजार गुना बडा होता है। इससे देव विमानो की विमान पक्तियाँ तथा नरक पृथ्वियो के प्रस्तर आदि स्वाभाविक वस्तुओ का नाप होता है। शिखर पर्वतो, कूटो, गुफाओ तथा समुद्रो आदि का नाप भी प्रमाणांगुल से होता है।
