Upavas means avoiding four types of intakes, T O o KL viz., foods, drinks, sweeteners. The activities involving violence TD oP are also discarded with this vow. The householder leaves his OO W PKL R o connection and his residence from sunrise for twenty four hours, O L O i.e., upto sunrise on the following day and firmly decides the O TA eR T place for his stay, sleep, toilet, etc. The first four partial O O N transgressions of this vow relate to the selected place and T Co A F O O bedding etc. the care to be observed in their context. During the WR Sa c O t time-period of this vow extreme care is to be observed in respect s L a ro of physical activities. It is to be ensured that no living beingis O T * hurt due to carelessness or scanty care.
