body. He walks with the help of a stick. Many of his teeth have fallen. He becomes a prey to cough, breathing trouble and suchlike diseases and therefore, becomes very weak. He remains restless due to hunger and thirst. He feels weak and tired. At that time he is not capable to lift that load of iron, glass or other suchlike.
Sir! In can that person could lift such load even at the old age and with the weak, frail body, I could believe that soul and body are different. But that person because of his old age, is not capable of lifting the iron load, so my belief that soul and body are the same is correct. It is thus a fact that soul is not different from the body."
२५५. तए णं केसी कुमारसमणे पएसिं रायं एवं वयासी
से जहाणामए केइ पुरिसे तरुणे जाव सिप्पोवगए णवियाए विहंगियाए, णवएहिं सिक्कहिं, वहिंपच्छयपिंडएहिं पहू एगं महं अयभारं जाव परिवहित्तए ?
हंता, पभू ।
पएसी ! से चेव णं पुरिसे तरुणे जाव सिप्पोवगए जुन्नियाए दुब्बलियाए घुणक्खइयाए विहंगियाए जुण्णएहिं दुब्बलएहिं घुणक्खइएहिं सिटिलतयापिणद्धएहिं सिक्कएहिं, एहिं दुब्बलिएहिं घुणखइएहिं पच्छिपिंडएहिं पभू एगं महं अयभारं वा जाव परिवहित्तए ?
णो तिट्ठे सट्टे ।
कम्हा णं ?
भंते ! तस्स पुरिसस्स जुन्नाई उवगरणाई भवंति ।
पएसी ! से चेव से पुरिसे जुन्ने जाव किलंते जुत्तोवगरणे नो पभू एगं महं अयभारं वा जाव परिवहित्तए, तं सद्दहाहि णं तुमं पएसी ! जहा - अन्नो जीवो अन्नं सरीरं ।
२५५. तब केशीकुमार श्रमण ने उत्तर दिया
"जैसे कोई एक तरुण यावत् कार्य - निपुण पुरुष नवीन कावड़ से, रस्सी से बने नवीन सीके से और नवीन टोकरी से एक बहुत बड़े वजनदार लोहे के भार को उठाने, ढोने में समर्थ होता है या नहीं ?"
प्रदेशी - "हॉ, समर्थ होता है ।"
