३ : असच्चमोसं सच्चं च अणवज्जमकक्कसं।
समुप्पेहमसंदिद्धं गिरं भासिज्ज पन्नवं॥ ४: एअं च अट्ठमन्नं वा जंतु नामेइ सासयं।
स भासं सच्चमोसं पि तं पि धीरो विवज्जए॥ SS बुद्धिमान मुनि, व्यवहार भाषा और सत्य भाषा भी वही बोले जो अनवद्य
अर्थात् पाप से दूषित न हो, जो मधुर तथा सन्देहरहित हो तथा वह भी हानि-लाभ का पूर्ण विचार करके बोले॥३॥ ___ वह विचारवान् साधु ऐसी सत्य एवं व्यवहार भाषा भी न बोले जिसका | आशय स्पष्ट न हो, अथवा जो अर्थ व परमार्थ के प्रति संदेह उत्पन्न करती हो, | जो मोक्ष के प्रतिकूल जाती हो॥४॥
3, 4. A wise ascetic should utter only that common language or truth which is not sinful or doubtful and is sweet. That too should be uttered only after weighing the consequent loss and gain.
He should also not utter such truth as well as common language which is not clear in its meaning, which creates doubt about the ultimate goal and which contradicts liberation.
५ : वितहं पि तहामुत्तिं जं गिरं भासए नरो।
तम्हा सो पुट्ठो पावेणं किं पुण जो मुसं वए॥ जो पुरुष सत्य पदार्थ की आकृति के समान दीखने वाली असत्य पदार्थ की आकृति को भ्रमवश सत्य पदार्थ कहता है, तो वह भी भारी पापकर्म का बंध करता है, तब फिर जो केवल असत्य ही बोलता है, उसके विषय में कहना ही क्या है॥५॥
