ऐसा मद्यपान करने वाला दुर्बुद्धि साधु, अपने किये हुए पापकर्मों से चोर के ANI समान सदा (अशान्तचित्त) रहता है। वह जीवन के अन्तिम समय पर भी संवर चारित्ररूप धर्म की आराधना नहीं कर सकता॥४१॥ __41. Such a perverse ascetic who consumes alcohol is ever disturbed by his sinful karmas, just like a thief. Even during the fag end of his life he is unable to pursue the samvar conduct and stop the inflow of karmas. ४२ : आयरिए नाराहेइ समणे आवि तारिसो।
गिहत्था वि णं गरहति जेण जाणंति तारिसं॥ विचार एवं विवेकमूढ़ मद्य पीने वाला साधु न तो गुरुजनों/आचार्यों की 卐 आराधना कर पाता है और न साधुओं की। ऐसे विवेक विकल साधु की तो गृहस्थ भी निन्दा ही करते हैं, क्योंकि वे अच्छी तरह जानते हैं कि वह कैसा है ?॥४२॥
42. Such a drunkard ascetic loses his rationality and intelligence and is unable to worship or follow either his guru and elders or other ascetics. Such an uncouth shraman is slandered even by householders because they know well what he is.
४३ : एवं तु अगुणप्पेही गुणाणं च विवज्जओ।
तारिसो मरणंते वि न आराहेइ संवरं॥ इस प्रकार अनेकानेक अवगुणों की प्रेक्षा अर्थात् जीवन में धारण करने वाला और सद्गुणों की उपेक्षा करने वाला साधु और तो क्या मृत्यु के समय में भी संवर धर्म की आराधना नहीं कर सकता॥४३॥
43. Thus, such an ascetic continues to imbibe numerous vices within him and neglects all virtues. He thereby makes himself incapable of pursuing the samvar conduct and stopping the inflow of karmas even at the time of his death.
