४५ : दगवारेण पिहियं नीसाए पीढएण वा । लोढेण वावि लेवेण सिलेसेण व केणइ ॥

पानी के घड़े से, पत्थर की चक्की से, चौकी से, शिलापुत्र (लोढ़ी) से, मिट्टी के लेप से, लाख आदि की मुद्रा से अथवा अन्य किसी वस्तु आहार- पानी यदि ढका हुआ हो और यदि दाता उसको साधु के ही निमित्त उघाड़कर देता हो तो साधु दाता से कह दे कि इस प्रकार का आहार- पानी लेना मुझे नहीं कल्पता है॥४५-४६॥

45, 46. If the food is covered with a pitcher, a grinding wheel, a stool, a grinding stone or any other thing or is sealed with flour-putty or shellac and the donor uncovers it for the sole purpose of giving alms to an ascetic, the ascetic should inform the donor that he is not allowed to accept such food.
विशेषार्थ :
श्लोक ४५, ४६. इस नियम में किसी भी प्रकार के ढके हुए या बंद किये आहार को लेने का निषेध है क्योंकि ढकना सचित्त हो सकता है। अचित्त भी हो तो खोलने बंद करने की क्रिया में हिंसा की संभावना बनी रहती है। यहाँ सीवन खोलने या किवाड़ खोलने का उल्लेख नहीं हैं। किन्तु उपलक्षण से वह भी निषिद्ध है । (देखें, पिण्डनिर्युक्ति, गाथा ३४७ )
ELABORATION:
(45, 46) The reason for this negation is that the cover might be sachit. Even if it is not, the process of uncovering and covering entails chances of harm to micro-organisms. The opening and closing of doors, drawers, etc., is not mentioned here, but they are also included in the term 'cover'. (Pind Niryukti 347 )
