उसी समय मौका देखकर शीघ्रता से उन छह गोष्ठिक पुरुषों ने किवाड़ों के पीछे से निकलकर अर्जुनमाली को पकड़ लिया और उसकी औंधी मुश्कें बांधकर उसे एक ओर पटक दिया। फिर उसकी पत्नी बंधुमती मालिन के साथ विविध प्रकार से काम-क्रीड़ा करने लगे ।
अपनी आँखों के सामने यह घोर दुराचार देखकर अर्जुनमाली के मन में यह विचार आया- देखो, मैं अपने बचपन से ही इस मुद्गरपाणि को अपना इष्टदेव मानकर इसकी प्रतिदिन भक्तिपूर्वक पूजा करता आ रहा हूँ । इसकी पूजा करने के बाद ही इन फूलों को वेचकर अपना जीवन-निर्वाह करता आ रहा हूँ ।
तो यदि मुद्गरपाणि यक्ष देव यहां वास्तव में ही होता तो क्या मुझे इस प्रकार विपत्ति में पड़ा देखकर चुप रहता ? इसलिए निश्चय ही मुद्गरपाणि यक्ष यहां नहीं है । यह तो मात्र काष्ठ का पुतला है ।
Maxim 8 :
Arjuna garland-maker entered the shrine of Mudgarapāni deity with his wife Bandhumati, reverred and bowed down on seeing it, made flower-offerings and bowed down falling upon his knees.
In the meanwhile seeing best opportunity, all of a sudden, those six fellows came out from behind the doors, caught Arjuna garland-maker. bound him fast and made him fall aside. Then began to enjoy sexual pleasures to the fullest and by various postures and methods with Bandhumati, the wife of Arjuna garland-maker.
Seeing such a mean misdeed (license) before his own eyes, such thoughts aroused in the mind of garland-maker Arjuna-Thus indeed, from my childhood, I go on reverring Mudgarapāņi deity, considering as my favourite god. After its reverence. I carry on my business. Had there been deity Mudgarapāņi really present, would he remain silent seeing me in such a tyranny? Therefore
