________________ 302. Bhagavan did not have any preference for any special place of stay or food. Only when needed he would enter a village for food or stay. Even before he came near a village, the villagers would come out of the village, stop him, assault him and say—“Go away and look for some other place.” ३०३. हयपुव्वो तत्थ डंडेणं अदुवा मुट्ठिणा अदु कुंताइ फलेणं। अदु लेलुणा कवालेणं हंता हंता बहवे कंदिसु॥४९॥ ३०३. भगवान को बहुत से लोग डण्डे से या मुक्के से अथवा भाले आदि शस्त्र से या फिर मिट्टी के ढेले या खप्पर (ठीकरे) से मारते, फिर 'मारो-मारो' कहकर चिल्लाते। 303. Many people would assault Bhagavan with sticks, fists, weapons like lances, or even lumps of sand or pieces of earthen pots, and scream-'Beat him, hit him.' ३०४. मंसाणि छिन्नपुव्वाइं उभंति एगयाइं कायं। परिस्सहाई लुचिसु अदुवा पंसुणा अवकरिंसु॥५०॥ ३०४. कुछ अनार्य लोगों ने पहले एक बार ध्यानस्थ खड़े भगवान के शरीर को पकड़कर माँस काट लिया था। वे कभी शरीर पर थूक देते। परीषहों से पीड़ित करते थे कभी उन पर धूल फेंकते थे। 304. Some aborigines would hold him while he meditated and cut out his flesh. They would sometimes spit over him, torment him many ways and throw dirt on him. ३०५. उच्चालइयं णिहणिंसु अदुवा आसणाओ खलइंसु। वोसट्टकाए पणयासी दुक्खसहे भगवं अपडिन्ने॥५१॥ ३०५. कुछ लोग भगवान को ध्यानस्थ देखकर ऊँचा उठाकर नीचे पटक देते थे, कुछ लोग आसन से (धक्का मारकर) दूर धकेल देते थे, किन्तु भगवान शरीर का व्युत्सर्ग किए हुए, परीषह सहन के लिए प्रतिज्ञाबद्ध, कष्ट-सहिष्णु-दुःख सहन करने की प्रतिज्ञा से युक्त थे। अतएव वे इन परीषहों-उपसर्गों से विचलित नहीं होते थे। 305. Some people would lift him up, while he meditated, and toss him on the ground. Some would push and topple him from the posture he had acquired.
