आगति का ज्ञान १. कुछ मनुष्यों को अपने जन्म के विषय में यह ज्ञात नहीं होता कि मैं पूर्व दिशा से आया हूँ, या दक्षिण, पश्चिम, उत्तर अथवा ऊर्ध्व दिशा किंवा अधो दिशा से आया हूँ ? मेरी आत्मा कहाँ से आई है कहाँ आगे जन्म लेगी? उनके मन में इस प्रकार की जिज्ञासा उठती है। -अ. १, उ. १, सूत्र १ समाधान के तीन साधन २. इस जिज्ञासा का समाधान तीन प्रकार से मिल जाता है(१) स्व-स्मृति से-किसी को अचानक जाति-स्मरण ज्ञान होने पर अपने पूर्वजन्म का ज्ञान हो
जाता है। जैसे ब्रह्मदत्त चक्रवर्ती को राजसभा में नाटक देखते हुए हुआ। (२) पर-व्याकरण से-किसी को तीर्थंकर आदि विशिष्ट ज्ञानियों के कथन से। जैसे मेघ मुनि
को भगवान महावीर की वाणी से हाथी के भव की स्मृति हुई। (३) अन्य से-किसी को अवधिज्ञानी आदि अन्य मुनियों के मुख से सुनकर। जैसे भृगु पुरोहित
के पुत्रों को मुनियों के मुख से सुनकर पूर्वजन्म का ज्ञान हुआ। -अ. १, उ. १, सूत्र २
THE AWARENESS OF COMING 1. About their birth, some men are not aware of this-whether I have come from the.eastern direction, or from the southern, western, northern, the direction above (zenith), or the direction below (nadir) ? From where my soul has come and where will it be born in future? They are filled with such curiosity.
-1/1/1 THREE MEANS OF SOLUTION 2. The answer to this question can be had three ways(1) By one's own memory-Some person comes to know about his
earlier birth by suddenly acquiring jati-smaran-jnana; as Brahmadatt Chakravarti did when he saw a play enacted in his
court. (2) Through omniscients-Through words of Tirthankars or other
omniscients; as Megh Muni remembered about his birth as an
elephant through Bhagavan Mahavir's discourse. (3) Through others-Through words of Avadhijnanis or other
ascetics; as the sons of Bhrigu Purohit acquired knowledge about their earlier births through discourse of ascetics. -1/1/2
