(2) One meaning of Adhyatma is 'the inner world' or 'the basic 9 nature of a being', which happens to be the desire for pleasure, the
desire to live. One who knows this basic nature of his own self also becomes aware of the outer world or the common basic nature of other beings. In other words, true spirituality is to know that, like one's own self, other beings also love pleasure and desire peace. By being conscious of the sameness of chetana in all beings, the feeling of similitude or identity with self is strengthened. ___Shanti-gat means 'one whose passions, desires, cravings and other such feelings have been pacified.'
Dravik means 'a mind saturated with compassion. The commentator (Tika) has interpreted dravik as a compassionate disciplined individual. He is always serene. वायुकायिक जीव-हिंसा-वर्जन
५८ लज्जमाणा पुढो पास। 'अणगारा मो' त्ति एगे पवयमाणा, जमिणं विरूवरूवेहिं सत्थेहिं वाउ-कम्म-समारंभेणं वाउसत्थं समारंभमाणे अण्णे अणेगरूवे पाणे विहिंसति।
५९. तत्थ खलु भगवया परिण्णा पवेदिता-इमस्स चेव जीवियस्स परिवदंणमाणण-पूयणाए जाई-मरण-मोयणाए दुक्खपडिघायहेउं से सयमेव वाउसत्थं समारंभति, अण्णेहिं वा वाउसत्थं समारंभावेति, अण्णे वा वाउसत्थं समारंभंते समणुजाणति।
तं से अहियाए, तं से अबोहीए।
५८. तू देख ! प्रत्येक संयमी पुरुष हिंसा में लज्जा का अनुभव करता है। उन्हें भी ॐ देख, जो 'हम गृहत्यागी हैं' यह कहते हुए विविध प्रकार के शस्त्रों/साधनों से वायुकाय का
समारंभ करते हैं। वायुकाय-शस्त्र का समारंभ करते हुए अन्य अनेक प्राणियों की हिंसा करते हैं।
५९. इस विषय में भगवान ने परिज्ञा/विवेक का उपदेश किया है। कोई मनुष्य, इस वर्तमान जीवन के लिए; प्रशंसा, सन्मान और पूजा पाने के लिए; जन्म, मरण और मोक्ष
के लिए; दुःख का प्रतीकार करने के लिए स्वयं वायुकाय के जीवों की हिंसा करता है, * दूसरों से हिंसा करवाता है तथा हिंसा करने वालों का अनुमोदन करता है।
वह वायुकायिक हिंसा, उसके अहित के लिए होती है। वह हिंसा, उसकी अबोधि का के कारण होती है। आचारांग सूत्र
