16. KALKI
Kalki is said to kill twin demons Koka and Vikoka and their master as he starts his reighn as the king of Shambala. This has the ring of the destruction of Gog and Magog in the Christian apocalypse where their master Satan is also put in the bottom less pit.
"I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one but he himself knows. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS." Rev 19:11-16
"And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be loosed from his prison and will come out to deceive the nations which are at the four corners of the earth, that is, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. And they marched up over the broad earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city; but fire came down from heaven and consumed them, and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire .. " Rev. 20 7

As is evident we have the original apocalypse of Christians with the Second coming of Jesus from the heavens on a white horse with the two edged sword which will establish a thousand year peaceful reign on earth is combined along with the Mahdi concept of a man being raised up to bring peace on earth in the Vaishanvite Kalki description. This is because of the difference in the incarnation concept. In the Vaishnavite theology the incarnation into human race by the Godhead will be born and after completion of the purpse will die as a man. In Christianity there is only one incarnation in Jesus and he resurrected with his body and continue to live. So in Christianity it is this Christ that returns on a white horse to establish the Kingdom of God on earth. But Vishnu will have to born again to do this job.
Strangley the timing of the legend is 7th century soon after the conquest of islam in India.
