Dynasty King Date A.D. 13th century characters Tamil Language and Script Contents Records that the stone image of the deity Marutupraśugaidēvar in the pali (palli) at Mentāraiyūr was renovated with mortar. Reference Information given by Pulavar S. Kuppuswamy, Bahur, Pondicherry. Remarks There are a number of rock-cut beds in the caves on the hill. Some of the boulders on the slope of the hill contain relief sculptures of Tirthankaras flanked by attendants. The image of the deity referred to in the inscription is the same as the Tirthařkara figure carved on the rock. It was renovated with a plaster coating. Mentāraiyūr was the old name of the place.
