- I never had the privilege of meeting him, but many people in this country will unite with me in deploring the loss of a ripe and learned scholar of world-wide reputation."
અર્થાત–હું તેમને (વિજયધર્મસૂરિને) કદી મળ્યા નથી. પણ આ દેશના ઘણા મનુષ્ય એ વિશ્વવ્યાપિ–કીર્તિમાન પ્રઢ વિદ્વાન સ્કલરની ખેટના દુઃખમાં મારી સાથે જોડાશે.
આ મહાન આચાર્યની જ્ઞાનવિભૂતિનો એ પ્રભાવ છે કે, ભારતીય અને પાશ્ચાત્ય વિદ્વાનોમાં જૈનધર્મના સમ્બન્ધમાં જે કેટલીક ગેરસમજુતીઓ ફેલાયેલી હતી તે નાબુદ થવા પામી છે.
જર્મન વિદ્વાન છે. હલ જૈનસાહિત્યની મહત્તા બતાવતાં જણાવે
"Now what would Sanskrita poetry be without the large Sanskrila literature of the Jainas! The more I learn to know it. the more my admiration riscs." ' અર્થાત્જેના મહાન સંસ્કૃત સાહિત્યને અલગ પાડવામાં આવે તે સંસ્કૃત કવિતાની શી દશા થાય ! આ બાબતમાં જેમ જેમ વધુ જાણવાને અભ્યાસ કરું છું. તેમ તેમ મારા આનદયુક્ત આશ્ચર્યમાં વધારે થત જાય છે.
ફ અમેરિકન ડો. એચ. એમ. જોન્સન લખે છે કે:
"The Acharya Maharaj Vijaya-Dharma Suri was most coarteoas ia assisting me in every way to collect material for my work and in explaining Jain terms to me." ' અર્થાત – આચાર્ય મહારાજ વિજયધર્મસૂરિ મને મારા કાર્ય-સાધનની સામગ્રી માટે દરેક રીતે મદદ કરવામાં અને મને જન સિદ્ધાન્તની પરિભાષામાં સમજાવવામાં બહુ ભલા હતા.'
ઇટાલીના છે. એફ. બેલેની ફી લખે છે કે
"We miss not only a holy man, but a renowned broad-minded scholar in the circle of Jainologists."
અર્થાત– અમે કેવળ એક સાધુ પુરૂષને જ નથી , બદિક જેલેજિસ્ટનાં સર્કલમાં એક યશસ્વી ઉદાર–મનના સ્કોલરને ગુમાવ્યો છે.'
ઈન્ડો-ચાઇનાના ડો. એલ. ફિનોટ સાહેબ લખે છે કે
“Although I never had the opportunity of meeting him, I was able, in the course of a friendly correspondence, to appreciate his profound learning, lofty spirit and kindness of heart."
