सचित्र उत्तराध्ययन सूत्र in
(Gautama) Mind is the unruly, dreadful and stupid horse, who runs hither and thither, all the directions. I control it by religious instructions, so it became well-trained Kanthaka horse. (58)
साहु गोयम ! पन्ना ते, छिन्नो मे संसओ इमो ।
अन्नो वि संसओ मझं, तं मे कहसु गोयमा ! ॥५९॥ (केशी) गौतम ! तुम्हारी प्रज्ञा श्रेष्ठ है। तुमने मेरा यह संशय भी मिटा दिया। मेरा एक और संशय है। उसके संबंध में भी मुझे कुछ कहें ॥५९॥
(Kesi) Gautama! Your intelligence is excellent. You have removed my this doubt. I have another doubt, remove also that. (59)
कुप्पहा बहवो लोए, जेहिं नासन्ति जंतवो ।
अद्धाणे कह वट्टन्ते, तं न नस्ससि ? गोयमा ! ॥६०॥ हे गौतम ! संसार में बहुत से कुमार्ग हैं, जिनके कारण जीव (सन्मार्ग से) भ्रष्ट हो जाते हैं, भटक जाते हैं। उस मार्ग पर चलते हुए तुम क्यों नहीं भटकते हो ? ॥६०॥
Gautama ! There are many bad paths (heretic creeds) in this world, which lead persons astray. Why you do not go astray moving on the path ? (60)
जे य मग्गेण गच्छन्ति, जे य उम्मग्गपट्ठिया ।
ते सव्वे विइया मज्झं, तो न नस्सामहं मुणी ! ॥६१॥ (गौतम) जो सन्मार्ग पर चलते हैं और जो उन्मार्ग पर चलते हैं, उन सबको मैं जानता हूँ। इसी कारण हे मुने! मैं सन्मार्ग से नहीं भटकता हूँ ॥६१॥
(Gautama) I know all, those who moves on right path and wrong path. Thereby I do not go astray from right path. (61)
मग्गे य इइ के वुत्ता ?, केसी गोयममब्बवी ।
केसिमेवं बुवंतं तु, गोयमो इणमब्बवी ॥६२ ।। (केशी) मार्ग किसे कहा जाता है ? केशी ने गौतम से कहा। केशी के यह पूछने पर गौतम ने इस प्रकार कहा-॥६२॥ (Kesi) Which is called a path ? To these words of Kesi, Gautama replied thus-(62)
कुप्पवयण-पासण्डी, सव्वे उम्मग्गपट्ठिया ।
सम्मग्गं तु जिणक्खायं, एस मग्गे हि उत्तमे ॥६३॥ (गौतम) कुप्रवचन को मानने वाले सभी पाखंडी-व्रतधारी लोग उन्मार्ग पर प्रयाण करते हैं। सन्मार्ग तो जिनेन्द्र द्वारा कथित है और यही मार्ग उत्तम है ॥६३॥
(Gautama) All the heterodox and heretics have choosen the wrong path; the right path is taught by Jinas and this is the most excellent path. (63)
