Complete mastery over the senses is the sole cause of the awakening of inder vitality. So for its sake one should be assiduous in the purification of the mind.
The demoniac mind, unconstrainedly wandering in thiş phenomenal world, throws the inhabitants of the three worlds in a pit of misery. Alas, this universe is without a ruler and protection ! Where should refuge of the world be looked to ?
The unsteady mind, like a hurricane, all at once hurls down even great ascetics who practise austerities renouncing all mundane affairs for the attainment of absolute freedom.

A foolish man who without the purification of mind, wishes to ascend the hill of Yoga, is as ridiculous as a lame man who desires to travel on foot.
