NOTES ON
This chapter treats of the senses of cases or the cases which are used in the sense of other cases. The purport is in brief as under:—
(1) The Gen. is used in place of the Dat.
(2) The Gen. is used optionally in place of the Dat. Sing. signifying purpose ( तादर्थ्य ). That is, the Dat. Sing. is used in the sense of purpose ( देवाय = देवार्थम् ; वहाय - वधार्थम् ).
(3) The Gen. is sometimes used in the sense of the Acc., the Inst., the Abl., and the Loc.
(4) The Loc. is sometimes used in the sense of the Acc. and the Inst.
(5) The Inst. and the Loc. are sometimes used in the sense of the Abl.
(6) The Acc. is sometimes used in the sense of the Loc. (7) म् takes the place of the case-affix optionally after the first word, when there is a repetition ( एकैकम् = एक्कमेकं एकैकेन = एक्कमेक्त्रेण; अंगेअंगे - अंगमंगम्मि also एक्केकं &c.).

Now begins the chapter on the Nipâtas or irregular forms. Under this chapter Trivikrama has given a long list of words, a few of which are Des'ya. Extracts from his Vritti are given below:
वरइत्तो— 'वरयितृ । ऋतोत् । तो द्वित्वं च' प्राकृ० व्याक० वृत्ति.
कणइलवाअडौ शुके - 'कण ईलतावाची देश्यः । ततो भवार्थेस्त्यर्थे वा डिलः । कणइलो | वाचाटे द्वितीयस्यातोत् । वाअडो ।' त्रिवि०.
मइलपुत्ती - ' मलिनादेशान्मइलात् पुत्ती ।' त्रिवि०.
सूरल्ली - 'सूरादस्त्यर्थे लिः ।'
वेल्लहल्लो— 'वल्लभाल्लं । आदरेत्वं च'
सद्दालं--' शब्दादालोस्त्यर्थे ।'
अलिलो - 'अले: स्वार्थे डिल्लः । लो द्वित्वं च ।'
पुलंओ - 'पुष्पंधयः । ष्पस्य लिर् ।'
रसाओ - 'रसमत्तीति रसाओ ।"
अणी कई इणा लतायाम् — 'लतायाः स्वार्थे डणी डणा च । कणतेर्धातोः स्त्रियां डइ ।'
बहुज्जा - ' शोभा बहुत्वात् ।'
